Inspired by a ‘French dollhouse’, Aaliyah’s first birthday party was every girl’s dream. Soft and girly, yet ever so sophisticated, both the kids and adults were able to enjoy this stunning birthday.
“We had a custom built backdrop which looked like the Baby Dior stores, with flower boxes inspired by the Plaza Athene in Paris, topiary trees to give a feeling of a French garden, a fresh flower cart and a fairy floss cart!” Aaliyah’s mum told Wedded Wonderland.
With invitations by Paper Jam Studio and illustrated by Natalie Romptos that opened up to look like the inside of a dollhouse and a true-to-life dollhouse cake, the room was utterly transformed for this special event. Even Aaliyah’s dress was wonderfully special, as the bodice had a Burano lace letter motif that was hand-made in Italy.
However, the party wouldn’t have been complete without a piece of tradition.
“We have a tradition on a child’s first birthday called ‘më dhëmka’. We lay out a number of objects and let the child pick items, with the choices predicting the child’s future profession and personality.
Aaliyah picked gold, a mirror and a spoon, which we can interpret to mean that she’ll be a wealthy, beautiful, cook!
Happy birthday Aaliyah!
