The Duke and Duchess are Expecting!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are due to expect their third, wait – fourth! – babies, and we couldn’t be happier! The royal couple were obligated to announce the pregnancy earlier than expected, due to Kate’s severe morning sickness, with the local media reporting that the Palace is making preparations for two bundles of joy.

New Idea and Closer Weekly are citing insider sources for revealing the news, with the Duchess’s uncle Gary Goldsmith commenting that she was welcoming ‘babies’.

After the official announcement Kate was pregnant, her mother Carole Middleton was spotted leaving Kensington Palace after spending the day with Kate. The Duchess, who is believed to be eight to 12 weeks along, is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum, a severe type of nausea during pregnancy.

This is not the first time Kate has suffered from the condition. She battled chronic morning sickness during her first two pregnancies and was even hospitalised whilst pregnant with George in 2012. She was forced to cancel her engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London today and was being cared for at Kensington Palace instead, which is extremely rare occurrence for the Duchess.

Prince Harry was the first to publically comment on the baby news, giving a thumbs and telling the waiting media he was incredibly happy for his brother William and wife Kate. Once the baby is born, the child will be fifth in line for the throne, pushing Harry into sixth place. Despite the scramble over succession, the Queen seems overjoyed by the news, with the official royal statement commenting, “The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news”. We’re pretty delighted too!

As with any pregnancy announcement, there is much talk about whether she’ll be having another George or Charlotte (or both!), with bets already kicking off thanks to bookmakers speculating. Alice and Victoria are favourites, as are Arthur or Albert.

What are you betting?
