Known for their dreamy resort wear, the most coveted Australian fashion house has just released their Spring 2018 Collection at New York Fashion Week.
Entitled #Goldentime the collection is the perfect culmination of cool sophistication mixed with retro glam, an edgier aesthetic than we’re used to seeing at Zimmermann. According to creative director Nicky Zimmermann, the new line was inspired by the Australian beach culture of the 60’s.
“GOLDENTIME: For Spring 18, I was inspired by images from the 60’s and 70’s of the sunny, beachside strip called the Gold Coast in Australia. Beachside suburbs like Surfers Paradise were developed into glamorous holiday spots, and the must-visit honeymoon destination of the time”, she wrote on Zimmermann’s Instagram.
“I was really attracted to the simple, nostalgic feeling in the photos – the somewhat kitschy hotels and apartments contrasted with the surf, the beautiful white sandy beaches and a radiant, golden light. The clear light is something very Australian for me and something I’m always drawn to. The blues are bluer and the colour just goes pop”.
The collection itself featured whimsical and romantic prints, exaggerated shoulders, structured bishop sleeves and super sexy v necklines, whilst remaining fresh and well-balanced. With a hint of #straya, the collection even included a pair of board shorts but with flared hems, ruffles and slits at the thigh.
As to be expected the front row was packed with the ‘It Girls’ of the moment, including some Australian social influencers and elite. The ‘FROW’ included Victoria Secret model Shanina Shaik, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, influencers Nadia Fairfax and Yan Yan Chan and former Home and Away star Demi Harman a very strong pack of Australian boss ladies.
We absolutely love that the collection came back to its roots and had that very personal touch.
