How To Achieve The Perfect Wedding Day Makeup Look

Your wedding day makeup is the the makeup look where everything has to go right. You want to achieve a glowy and luminious glow, yet the look has to be matte enough that you don’t come off looking too oily. You want to capture your natural beauty but you also want it to look like 10/10 and wear your favorite lipstick. You don’t want to wear too much makeup yet you also don’t want to wear too little makeup that you can barely see your makeup in any photos. And finally, you need a makeup look that will last all day long and will last through all your sweat and tears.

We know how tough it is to nail your wedding day makeup look so Wedded Wonderland spoke to Too Faced global makeup artist, Elyse Reneau to give us her expert tips on looking flawless for your big day.

First prepping your skin is key. Most brides have a strict beauty routine months before their big day and often opt for weekly facials to ensure clear, glowing skin on their big day. On the day, Elyse says,

“Priming and setting are the key to creating a look that lasts! Start early with freshly exfoliated skin, then apply a generous amount of Hangover Primer to replenish skin with coconut water. Our 3-in-1 Hangover Setting Spray helps make your makeup transfer-proof which is a must when you will be hugging all your guests!”

For brides wanting a glowy look, Elyse says,

“Be strategic! You want to look dewy, not sweaty, so make sure you powder your t-zone and focus on the high points of your skin for shine. Also, layering our 3-in-1 Hangover Setting Spray before and after highlighter will give your skin that “just had a facial glow.”

Her must-have tips for brides:

“My number one focus for a bride is the skin because if that doesn’t look good, nothing looks good. Our Born This Way Foundation is designed to look like your skin but better, and it photographs beautifully.”

“Don’t forget to put foundation on your ears! It sounds weird, but if you don’t, they might look pink in the photograph, espeically if you are an emotional bride like me. Also, don’t do a clay mask the week out of your wedding; it might make you break out!”

To make sure that your makeup lasts all day long, Elyse says,

“Layer, layer, layer! After every step of your application, spray on Hangover 3-in-1 Settin gSpray – after foundation, spray! After powder, spray! This keeps your face looking fresh all day.”

Elyse also shared her tips on how bridesmaids can compliment the bride on the day of the wedding,

“I think it looks really beautiful in pictures when the bridesmaids makeup is a softer version of the bride. I think our Chocolate Bar Palette makes the best bridesmaid gift, and then everyone has the same colours to chose from. I also think that bridesmaids shouldn’t wear huge false lashes, it’s distracting and the focus should be on the beautiful bride.”
