How Much Couples Spend On Weddings In 2018

We know that weddings can be pricey – we’ve taken a look at the cost breakdowns in the past and found some pretty interesting results.

But preferences change, costs rise, and new trends strongly influence choices. So, we ran another survey with 515 Australian brides to determine just how much the average Australian wedding costs in 2018.

Focusing on brides and soon-to-be brides over the last two years, we asked them to tell us their average spend on everything from wedding dresses and engagement rings to honeymoons, venues, and more.

In comparison to last year, we’ve seen a rise in costs across all fronts, with the most significant increases being the wedding dress, venue, videographers and photographers. Overall, couples are spending $51,245 on weddings – a jump from 2017s average of $48,624.

“There is a particular focus on style, personalisation and experience,” says Wedded Wonderland Founder, Wendy El Khoury. “Brides and Grooms today are using their wedding as a platform to express their relationship personality; wanting to impress, indulge, and create unforgettable memories.”

The survey found that wedding dresses are sitting at an average of $5,180 compared to $4,000 in 2017. Couples are also splurging more on venues – $5,750 more than last year to be exact, while video and photography have risen by just over $1,000.
