Honeymoon Essentials Checklist

You’re heading off to paradise with your new hubby for a week or two…or three. You’re so ready for some R&R after the whirlwind craziness of the past few months, and we know you are more than ready to pack your suitcase and board a plane. So we’ve created a checklist of all the honeymoon essentials you’ll need for your time away.

Passport, visas & reservation confirmations

The boring, but super important stuff!

A Good Book
If you’re planning the ultimate honeymoon destination, the downside to this is the long haul flights. So pack a great book to keep you somewhat entertained. A good book is also great during  the honeymoon, even though the idea is to be inseparable from your man on your honeymoon, there will come a time when you need some time out. Packing a good book gives you the perfect excuse for some R&R … alone.

Practical Bikini and Underwear
A metallic one piece with side cut outs, sequin jewels and a risqué neckline is definitely sexy. Your man will love it but your scuba diving instructor won’t. Save your sexy couture swimwear for the pool. For everything else? Pack a practical bikini. The same rule applies for underwear. Pack those silk and lace numbers, but for those days you’re planning on being active,  you may want to bring something comfortable too.

Contraception
Not all of you will want to return home from your honeymoon with that extra special kind of glow… so don’t get caught up in the moment and forget to pack your contraception. Most honeymoon babies are unplanned and come as a bigger surprise than the total cost of the wedding!

Lingerie

This is your honeymoon, and it’s your time to shine! Need we say more?

International Adapter and Chargers
Not everyone has the same power points like in Australia. You will need to take an international adapter that allows you to charge your phones and cameras no matter which country you’re in.

Comfortable Clothing and Shoes

We’re not telling you to take your daggy house clothes on your honeymoon, but remember it’s not all glitz and glamour. Your embellished kaftan and tie-up stilettos won’t work when you’re hiking up a mountain or going for a bush-walk. Be realistic about the activities you’ll be doing and make sure you have a balance of practical and not so practical attire.

Dressy clothing and shoes

Bring out the mini sequinced numner, stilettos, over-sized earrings and statement necklaces!

Makeup bag

Pack your favourite mascara, BB cream, bronzer, eyeliner, blush, lip gloss and tweezers in a small makeup bag fit for travel purposes. It’s also a good idea to check with your go-to skincare brands and see if they stock handy ‘travel packs’ – a cleanser, toner and moisturiser packaged up in a neat airplane-friendly wallet!
