A Croatian Wedding Where The Groom Surprises The Bride With A Unique Gift

On a trip to Koh Samui, Thailand, Antoni proposed to Alanna during a private beach dinner for his birthday.

With the couple being both of Croatian background, the couple wanted to have a modern, romantic wedding with traditional elements. The two got married at a local Croatian church, where they were both christened.

In true Croatian wedding tradition, the two celebrated with a massive party and lots of Rakija. The groomsmen gave guest Croatian flasks “cuturica” filled with traditional liquor rakija. As the couple entered their reception, they were greeted with flag bearers walking in with the Croatian and Australian flags, followed by bridesmaids who all stopped and took a shot of rakija.

Alanna says, “I can honestly say I had the best time at our wedding, we were on the dance floor the entire night and had so much fun partying with everyone, we wanted a party and we definitely got it!”

Alanna’s secret to dancing all night long? “I was in my heels all night with no pain because of my maid of honor’s trick, she bought pharmacy grade numbing cream which we put on the bottom of our feet in the morning and before the reception – we could dance all night!”

Antoni gave Alanna the ultimate surprise when he gifted her with a digital brochure containing their love story. “It looked like a book when I opened it covered in photos from our pre-wedding shoot and when I lifted the cover a video started playing with photos and videos from our time together – I had never seen anything like it. Even the videographer hit him up to use the idea for his own wedding”
