7 beauty hacks for the summer bride

Getting married in summer comes with a whole different set of beauty and makeup considerations for the bride. You’ll want a high glam look, but obviously without the need for hourly touch-ups; which can be a big ask, especially when there’s humidity, wind and some seriously hot temperatures involved!

So, we’ve done the hard-yards for you and put together our latest beauty tips and tricks that will give you the perfect summer look.

1. Sunburn Solvers

If you find yourself suffering from sunburn in the days before your Wedding day, it’s time to start with remedies asap. Apply ice cold compressors to the affected area to cool your skin, rub some hydrocortisone cream and, if it’s severe, try Biafine, a prescription wound-healer that the Europeans have been using for years.

2. Tired Eyes and Skin

During summer, there’s nowhere for your skin to hide, making it essential that you pay it special attention. Katherine from Duquessa explains that the quickest and easiest way to give your skin a boost pre-wedding is with Thermage, a facial tightening treatment, “This treatment works on the silhouette of facial contours, tightening and smoothing the jawline, neck and under eyes through non-invasive radio frequency. When combined with anti-wrinkle injections, it really lifts the overall aesthetic to the face.”

3. Melting Base

A good base that won’t melt off your face at the first sign of heat is essential for the summer Bride. Your makeup artist may have a few suggestions, but if you need a fool-proof option that is guaranteed to give you full coverage and ‘contour on-fleek’ without the cake-face, we recommend combining La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF 15 with Revlon Sculpt + Highlight Contour Kit for a flawless look that will last all day long.

3. Hairy Situations

Laser hair removal has come a long way since it first hit the market and it truly is worth the investment, especially during summer. Not only will you be completely hairfree, but you can also say goodbye to ingrown hairs for good.

4. Flat Hair

Unless you want slick, flat hair, you’ll need a hard-working styling powder to dust into the roots of your hair. The humidity can play havoc on your look, so opt for a matte product that promises texture and volume, while it absorbs excess oil like De Lorenzo’s Elements Earth Quicksand.

5. Heat Rash Be Gone

If you find yourself suffering from heat rash (characterized by redness, flushed skin and tiny bumps on the skin), stress not. Your best option is to purchase some hydrocortisone cream from your local chemist. Have this on-hand to apply the moment you feel the rash coming on.

6. Pasty Skin

So you’ve kept out of the sun to keep your skin sunburn-free, but now you’ve got another problem – you look like you’ve just come back from vacation… in the Artic. The trick is to grab a range of self-tanners that you can gradually build upon until you reach the level of darkness you want.

7. Dry Skin

The heat and humidity can play havoc on your skin and with more and more time spent in the ocean and out in the sun, you’ll probably find your skin feels dry and dull. Pump up the moisture with a glycolic scrub, followed by a hydrating mask and serum to get your glow on!
